Therefore, I have a good understanding of the culture and social environment in China. In addition, my experiences as a College-level Chinese Lecturer and Translator/Interpreter have strengthened my Linguistic skill tremendously. I've worked as a part-time translator/interpreter for University of Maryland, Ye Law firm and a website. The responsibilities are Chinese news translation and analyzing, simultaneous interpretation, legal documents translation, on court interpretation, website translation, and software localization. I've also translated a number of academic articles and documents. In University of Maryland, College Park, my main duties included translating English documents (regulations, notes, technical instructions) into Chinese for Chinese employees, simultaneous interpretation (English to Chinese) on seminars & presentations and bi-directional translation & interpretation on Staff meetings. For the law firm, I translated a number of legal documents from Chinese into English, also I translated English to Chinese for clients from China or Taiwan. For the education website, I translated all text of the website from English to Simplified Chinese, Including educational contents and commercial contents. I've used Translation memory software Trades to translate a number of articles and documents, including 7 chapters of an academic work (25,000 words, English to Simplified Chinese) and a computer manual. (4,500 words, English to traditional Chinese), also the education website and many office documents like regulations or announcements. I am available to work 40 hours per week, including weekends. For written translation, I can translate about 1500-2000 words daily, for interpretation, it depends on the form and intensity of subjects.
